MAT141 College Mathematics 4 Credits

Working knowledge of college-level mathematics and its applications to real-life problems. Emphasis on understanding mathematical concepts and their applications. Topics include proportional reasoning, modeling, finance, probability, and statistics.

Prerequisites: An appropriate District placement, or a grade of C or better in (MAT052, MAT053, and MAT055), or (MAT055, MAT056, and MAT057), or MAT085, or MAT09+, or MAT103, or MAT114, or MAT115, or MAT12+.

Course Notes: MAT141 is appropriate for the student whose major does not require college algebra or precalculus.

This class may require a graphing calculator and/or online software package, such as MyMathLab, that may result in an additional cost to the student. Some instructors allow the use of the online textbook that accompanies the online software package in lieu of a physical textbook. Contact your instructor for details. All students must meet the MCC Mathematics Department prerequisite requirements for each class. MAT231 Calculus with Analytic Geometry II 4 Credits

Techniques of integration for both proper and improper integrals with applications to the physical and social sciences, elements of analytic geometry, and the analysis of sequences and series.

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in MAT220, or MAT221, or equivalent.

Course emphasizes discrete mathematics connections to computer science by exposing students to foundational concepts of set theory, logic, counting, induction, proof techniques, graph theory, and algorithms.

Class 26617 The topic for this seminar course is Introduction to Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3-D printing. No background in the subject is required for this course. In this class you'll be taught to use CAD software and use it to design objects for a 3-D printer. You will also be introduced to basics of 3-D printing. The class will not have any exams. Course grades are based on assignment completion and attendance. Students will not need to purchase a textbook or any software for the course. Outside of the regular class time, you should expect each week to spend about 1 hour or less on assignments Students will leave the class with a 3-D printed design and the skills to continue exploring CAD and 3-D printing on their own.
