MAT218 Mathematical Analysis for Business 4 Credits

An introduction to the mathematics required for the study of business. Includes multivariable optimization, Lagrange multipliers, linear programming, linear algebra, probability, random variables, discrete and continuous distributions.

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in MAT212, or MAT213, or MAT220, or MAT221.

Course Notes: This class may require a graphing calculator and/or online software package, such as MyMathLab, that may result in an additional cost to the student. Some instructors allow the use of the online textbook that accompanies the online software package in lieu of a physical textbook. Contact your instructor for details. All students must meet the MCC Mathematics Department prerequisite requirements for each class within two years of first day of class. MAT241 Calculus with Analytic Geometry III 4 Credits

Multivariate calculus including vectors, vector- valued functions, partial differentiation, multiple integration and an introduction to vector fields.

Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT230 or MAT231.

Introduces differential equations, theoretical and practical solution techniques with applications. Problem-solving using MATLAB.

MAT081 Basic Arithmetic 4 Credits

Primary emphasis on conceptual understanding of and solving problems involving whole numbers, integers, mathematical operations, decimals, decimal operations, fractions, percentages, angles and geometric figures. Use of systems of measure, similarity, proportionality and the Pythagorean theorem. Focus on mathematical language, connections, patterns and reasoning, and additive and multiplicative reasoning. Prerequisites: None.

Participants will review key skills necessary for success; participants will be better prepared for their course.
