ART177 Digital Photographic Imaging I 3 Credits
Introduction to multiple elements of digital imaging. Basic foundation in photographic manipulation of images, with special attention to aesthetic foundations underlying photographic composition.
A grade of C or better required in all Prerequisites. Prerequisites or Corequisites: ART100 or permission of Instructor.
ART177 is required for all tracks of the AAS Digital Arts Degree and all tracks of the AAS Digital Arts Certificate of Completion. Software used: Adobe PhotoShop. This class is taught using Macintosh computers. ART100 prerequisite may be waived by permission of instructor. Due to COVID related campus lab closures, students will be provided an Adobe Creative Cloud account tied to their MEID username, for home use on PC or Mac computers (smartphone or tablet mobile devices are not supported) during the duration of this course. ART190 Art of Web Site Design 3 Credits
Introduction to design production for websites. Layout, typography and presentation style for HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language). Design of mock-ups using digital design software to produce artistic form and content for the Web using Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), digital text, and graphics. Discussion of color, proportion, typography and Web-specific design principles. Emphasizes design of cross-browser compatible interfaces that optimize usability, accessibility and browser interoperability.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ART100, or permission of Instructor. CIS133DA recommended.

You will learn how to plan, design, and build websites that are visually compelling, easy to use, and in line with industry standards. You do not need web coding or previous web design experience to succeed in this course.

It is recommended that students with little or no computer experience or those not familiar with Macintosh computers complete ART 100 prior to enrolling in ART177.
