Includes creating visual effects for video projects. Explores techniques and methodologies used to create shots for big budget special effects. Topics include color and light matching, keying, motion tracking, rotoscoping and working with film. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS120DA, or CIS120DK, or permission of Instructor. Due to COVID related campus lab closures, students will be provided an Adobe Creative Cloud account tied to their MEID username, for home use on PC or Mac computers (smartphone or tablet mobile devices are not supported) during the duration of this course. Students should review the minimum configuration requirements to run Adobe CC on their personal device at: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/system-requirements.html. Your instructor will provide login directions on the first day of class. |

Emphasis on creating and applying materials and textures to three-dimensional environments. Techniques for creating skins, surfaces, and shading types for objects, environments and characters will be explored. Original textures, both life-like and imaginary, will be created using 3D Studio Max and a 2D computer graphics software application. Overview of computer technology, concepts, terminology, and the role of computers in business and society. Discussion of social and ethical issues related to computers. Use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Includes uses of application software and the Internet for efficient and effective problem solving. Exploration of relevant emerging technologies. Prerequisites: None. CIS105 is a lecture course with computers demonstrations and open lab assignments. CIS105 uses Windows-based computers to cover word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and database management software. Includes overview of computer technology, concepts, terminology, and the role of computers in business and society. Discussion of social and ethical issues related to computers and exploration of relevant emerging technologies. Knowledge or basic features of Windows and ability to type 30 WPM recommended. Students are required to use Microsoft Office 2016, 2019 or 365 software to complete assignments which can be downloaded for free. Students must be using a PC or a MAC to complete this course. Chromebooks are not supported. Internet connectivity is needed. |
