CIS130DA 3D Studio Max: Modeling 3 Credits

Introduction to 3D modeling using 3D Studio Max. Emphasis will be placed on polygonal, solid, and surface modeling tools. Students will also understand concepts such as modifiers, sub-object editing, extruding, Booleans, lofting, lathing and compound object modeling. Introduction to basic lighting, texturing and rendering techniques.

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS105.

CIS133DA Internet/Web Development Level I 3 Credits

Overview of the Internet/World Wide Web (WWW) and its resources. Hands-on experience with various Internet/WWW resource discovery, information retrieval, and social media tools. Design and Development of multi-page websites using current Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) standards. Prerequisites: None.

Course Notes: CIS133DA covers email, the Web and an introduction to HTML/Web publishing. Requires an additional 50-minute lab per week. CIS105 strongly recommended prerequisite.

Class 13407 Students should have the minimum required computer skills as laid out in the online orientation. Students should not rely on a smartphone, tablet, or iPad to take this course. If students do not have regular access to a PC or Mac computer, then they should plan to spend time at the computer labs on campus: https://www.mesacc.edu/departments/computer-information-systems/multi-use-computer-lab This course will use Visual Studio Code and Github for Education. Download Visual Studio here: https://code.visualstudio.com/download and sign up for Github, https://github.com/. These two applications work well together and are recognized across the industry.

CIS151 Computer Game Development -Level I 3 Credits

Introduction to object-oriented game development, game design, and game theory. Use of computer software to demonstrate and teach concepts using an appropriate game development platform to model real-time simulations and create computer games using object oriented tools. Introduction to developing PC games, educational software, and training software using windows based object oriented developments tools.

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS105 or permission of Instructor.

In depth coverage of game programming (scripting) techniques, and decision logic using object oriented techniques.

Emphasis on lighting and rendering for three-dimensional environments. Techniques for illuminating scenes and characters will be explored. Prepare scenes for rendering to video, film and real-time rendering using 3D Studio Max.
