Carmen Prado Newland

Senior Associate Vice President



Carmen Prado Newland has over 20 years of experience providing leadership in higher education with the goal of improving the student experience.   In addition to her role at MCC, Carmen has held leadership positions at Arizona State University and Phoenix College.  She has also worked at Fort Lewis College, San Juan College, and the University of New Mexico.  She currently serves as Co-chair of the MCC Guided Pathways Task Force, which is leading a college-wide redesign of the student experience at MCC.

Carmen is a first-generation college student with a B.A. In Psychology and Family Studies from the University of New Mexico and a Masters of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.  She is an active member of her community and recently completed Valle Del Sol’s Hispanic Leadership Institute-East Valley.  She serves as a mentor for the Maricopa Women’s Mentor Program and the Maricopa Latino Leadership Academy.  In 2015, she was selected as a National Community College Hispanic Council Leadership Fellow and participated in training designed to prepare Hispanic Leaders to meet the changing needs of community colleges and community college students.
