EMT104 Emergency Medical Technology 10 Credits

Designed as the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) lecture to prepare students for scope of practice and standard of care with comprehensive assessment, diagnostic technology, patient advocacy, ethical and professional behaviors, critical thinking, decision-making, and patient management of medical and trauma emergencies and non-emergencies.

Prerequisites: 18 yrs/older or EMT Prgrm Director permission and (CRE101 or satisfactory score on EdReady Critical Reading & Critical Thinking exam or Gen Accuplacer Reading Exam or HS GPA 3.0 within 10 yrs or Associate¦s Degree). Corequisites: EMT104AB.

EMT104LL Emergency Medical Technology Practicum 2 Credits

Laboratory-based course provides structured, hands-on practice of EMT skills in a controlled learning environment. Students apply standards of care, patient assessment techniques, and evidence-based procedures through simulated medical and trauma emergencies using manikins and training devices. Emphasis is placed on decision-making, patient advocacy, and professional behaviors with immediate instructor feedback. The course follows national and state curricula to ensure skill development prior to clinical or practicum experience.

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in EMT104 or permission of Instructor or Corequisites: EMT104.
