EMT104 Emergency Medical Technology 9 Credits
Techniques of emergency medical care in accordance with national and state curriculum. Study of the human body, patient assessment, treatment of medically or traumatically compromised patients, special hazards, and medical operations, IV monitoring, patient-assisted medication administration, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and blood-glucose monitoring.
Prerequisites: C or better in EMT101 or current validation in BLS Health Care Provider/Professional Rescuer & (approp Reading placement test score to demonstrate min 10th grd level reading or completed Associates degree or higher from accred inst).
The following must be provided at the time of registration for EMT104. If any documentation is incomplete you will not be given permission for registration.

You must be 18 years of age to test with NREMT for Certification. You must provide us with a copy of your current Drivers License or Birth Certificate with picture I.D.

You must be CPR certified by one of the following institutions and at the corresponding level. All training must meet the 2015 guidelines.

American Heart Association-Health Care provider
American Red Cross-Professional Rescuer
American Safety & Health Institute-CPR Pro
Green Cross or NSC-Professional Rescuer
Military Training Network-Meets AHA 2015 guidelines for Health Care Providers

You must provide a copy of your current certification card, both front and back sides. Certification must be maintained throughout the course and during National Registry testing.

Every student must take the reading assessment test and attain a minimum score of 22 on the ACT Reading test, or 83 on the COMPASS test, or 74 on the ACCUPLACER or an AIMS score of 720 or higher, Composite Score of min. of 93 on the PSAT, Composite Score min. of 930 on the SAT or an associate degree prior to enrolling.

The tests are given at the MCC main campus at 1833 W. Southern Ave., Mea, AZ, 480-461-7480. Testing is done Monday through Thursday from 8am to 7pm and Friday fro 10am to 4pm. Red Mountain Campus at 7110 McKellips Rd, Mesa AZ 85207, 480-654-7200. You will need to bring a copy of your results to turn in.

You must register for EMT104AB class at the same time you are registering for the EMT104 class. Must complete the class as a P/Z (Pass/Fail), attend the complete class, and meet all competencies.

EMT200 Refresher Course for Certified Emergency Medical Technicians 2 Credits
Designed to meet National and Arizona Department of Health Services (A-DHS) recertification for EMTs. Enhances the knowledge base of the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and reinforces basic skills competencies.
Prerequisites: Current validation in Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider/Professional Rescuer or permission of Instructor.
All EMT200 students must contact the EMT/Fire Science office and speak with an advisor prior to registration. Current certification in AHA or equivalent (health care provider) level CPR is required. Verification must be presented on the first meeting of class.
