BIO181 General Biology (Majors) I 4 Credits
The study and principles of structure and function of organisms at the molecular and cellular levels. A detailed exploration of the chemistry of life, the cell, and genetics.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in RDG100 or higher or eligibility for CRE101. One year of high school or one semester of college-level biology and chemistry is strongly recommended.

Students may contact instructor at: denise.clark@mesacc.edu. The lab will be delivered in room LS-205. Students will be responsible for completing weekly computer-base lab exercises on their own. Half of the labs will be done online and half will be done on campus. On campus labs will meet on the days (Fridays) listed above. Hybrid BIO181 labs require a lab kit which can be purchased from http://www.hometrainingtools.com/mcc-hybrid-bio-181-kit/p/SK-MCCB181/. Students enrolled in this class should plan to purchase their lab kits no later than the first week of class.

1986: B.S. Biochemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University

1991: PhD Biochemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University

Post-doctoral training at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the US Dept of Agriculture, and University of Wyoming.

Teaching experience: Chemistry at the University of Alaska, Biology at the Metropolitan State College of Denver, and Biology at MCC (1999 - present)
