ART131 Photography I 3 Credits
Basic photographic principles and techniques. Basic camera functions and controls. Experience in the image-making process by creating and editing photographs for various display environments. Introduction to the photographic aesthetic and photography's role in society. Prerequisites: None.
Fully-adjustable, high-resolution, digital camera is required. (digital SLR recommended). Art100, Introduction to Computer Graphic Art, is highly recommended as a precursor to this course. This class is taught using Macintosh computers. A DSLR camera is required. ART131 is required for the Certificate of Completion in Digital Arts: Digital Photography and the AAS Digital Arts: Digital Photography Track. Due to COVID related campus lab closures, students will be provided an Adobe Creative Cloud account tied to their MEID username, for home use on PC or Mac computers (smartphone or tablet mobile devices are not supported) during the duration of this course. ART138 Commercial Photography I 3 Credits
Basic techniques of lighting, camera work, and reproduction of commercial photography. Cooperation with commercial art community.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ART131, or ART142, or permission of Instructor.

ART255 Art Marketing 3 Credits
Career goals, presentation of artist and art work (portfolio, resume, business cards, catalog), pricing and selling works, networking, establishing a studio, promotion and publicity, writing press releases, proposal writing, business ethics, artist rights, copyright law, contracts and agreements, royalties, record keeping, and communication skills. Prerequisites: None.
ART255 is required for majors in both the AAFA-ART and AAS in Digital Arts. It is recommended that students take this class during their last semester.
