MAT150 College Algebra/Functions 5 Credits

Analysis and interpretation of the behavior and nature of functions including linear, quadratic, higher-order polynomials, rational, exponential, logarithmic, power, absolute value, and piecewise-defined functions; systems of equations, using multiple methods including matrices, and modeling and solving real world problems.

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in MAT095, or MAT096, or MAT114, or MAT115, or MAT12+, OR an appropriate district placement for MAT15+, OR permission of Department or Division Chair.

Course Notes: This class may require a graphing calculator and/or online software package, such as MyMathLab, that may result in an additional cost to the student. Some instructors allow the use of the online textbook that accompanies the online software package in lieu of a physical textbook. Contact your instructor for details. All students must meet the MCC Mathematics Department prerequisite requirements for each class within two years of first day of class. See http://www.mesacc.edu/departments/mathematics-computer-science/mathematics/resources/ for department policies.

It is highly encouraged that you attend one of the FREE MCC Math Boot Camps that occur prior to the beginning of the semester. Participants will review key skills necessary for success; participants will be better prepared for their course.
