AVC100 Introduction to Digital Arts 1 Credits

Foundation course in digital arts and design, with emphasis in the production of art using the computer. Prerequisites: None.

Course Notes: ART100 is required for all majors in the AAS in Digital Arts. Required for Certificate of Completion in Digital Arts: Web Design, Digital Illustration, Digital Photography and Graphic Design.

Students in this class will be provided an Adobe Creative Cloud account tied to their MEID username, for home use on PC or Mac computers (smartphone or tablet mobile devices are not supported) during the duration of this course. Students should review the minimum configuration requirements to run Adobe CC on their personal device at:

https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/system-requirements.html. Your instructor will provide login directions on the first day of class.

This course gives our digital arts students a basic understanding of Photoshop, Illustrator, and other digital art software and foundational concepts.

AVC177 Digital Photographic Imaging I 3 Credits

Introduction to multiple elements of digital imaging. Basic foundation in photographic manipulation of images, with special attention to aesthetic foundations underlying photographic composition.

A grade of C or better required in all Prerequisites. Prerequisites or Corequisites: AVC100 or permission of Instructor.

Course Notes: This is a beginning Photoshop course. While learning the software, the students create projects that help shape their compositional and typographic skills.
