Notes: This beginner’s course is designed to introduce various beading techniques. Students can expect to learn the differences between beads, bead sizes, and stitches. Each student will be encouraged to complete one project by the end of the semester. Students will have an opportunity to develop an appreciation for Native American beadwork, craftsmanship, and cultural significance. Beading does require patience, concentration, and can be deeply personal. Experience is not required. |

In this beginning class you will learn how to weave Indigenous rugs, stripes as well as designs, and build a small loom to use for warping and weaving. Class will include a lecture on the history and regional styles and there will be demonstrations of each step of warping and weaving. Numerous rugs will be brought in for Show and Tell. Students will actually weave a small rug during class. |
