ART142 | Introduction to Digital Photography | 3 Credits | ||||

Fundamentals of digital photography. Includes camera operations, exposure techniques, introduction to digital output, and theory of digital photography. Prerequisites: None. ART142 is required for the Certificate of Completion in Digital Arts: Digital Photography and Graphic Design. It is also required for all tracks of the AAS Digital Arts Degree. Information: 480-461-7526 or see the Art Department website at www.mesacc.edu/departments/art. Fully-adjustable, high-resolution, digital camera is required. (digital SLR recommended). Art100, Introduction to Computer Graphic Art, is highly recommended as a precursor to this course. This class is taught using Macintosh computers. A DSLR camera is required. Due to COVID related campus lab closures, students will be provided an Adobe Creative Cloud account tied to their MEID username, for home use on PC or Mac computers (smartphone or tablet mobile devices are not supported) during the duration of this course. Students should review the minimum configuration requirements to run Adobe CC on their personal device at: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/system-requirements.html. Your instructor will provide login directions on the first day of class. |

ART177 | Digital Photographic Imaging I | 3 Credits | ||||

Introduction to multiple elements of digital imaging. Basic foundation in photographic manipulation of images, with special attention to aesthetic foundations underlying photographic composition. A grade of C or better required in all Prerequisites. Prerequisites or Corequisites: ART100 or permission of Instructor. ART177 is required for all tracks of the AAS Digital Arts Degree and all tracks of the AAS Digital Arts Certificate of Completion. Software used: Adobe PhotoShop. This class is taught using Macintosh computers. ART100 prerequisite may be waived by permission of instructor. Basic foundation in the use of computer techniques including color paint and draw programs for the production of commercial illustrations for publications and printed matter.
