ENG108 First-Year Composition for ESL 3 Credits

Equivalent of ENG102 for students of English as a Second Language (ESL). Emphasis on rhetoric and composition with a focus on persuasive, research-based writing and understanding writing as a process. Developing advanced college-level writing strategies through three or more writing projects comprising at least 4,000 words in total.

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ENG107.

Notes: This class is intensive. In 8 weeks, students will learn the same information that is normally covered in 16 weeks. Students should be prepared to come to class every day and complete homework and study every night. Students should plan to spend 24-36 hours outside of class for studying and completing assignments in addition to class time.
