Profile
Respecting the past and educating to the future, Billy feels responsible as part of the last generation to grow up without the internet; responsible as a scholar, colleague, and mentor leveraging convergence media to empower generationally, economically, linguistically, and culturally diverse learners through language arts. Teaching and coaching at Title 1 high schools for 21 years, he also executive edited the first three Best Arizona Teen Writing paperback anthologies in state history. In his 13th year teaching for Maricopa Community Colleges, “Professor G” is excited to “come home” to serve MCC’s Red Mountain Campus, located in his childhood community of east Mesa. His ‘23-’24 courses–themed MCC Life: Red Mountain Campus Edition–use a game-based learning approach, contextualize projects to student needs, and connect Thunderbirds to their MCC Red Mountain Campus and local community resources.
