ENG107 First-Year Composition for ESL 3 Credits

Equivalent of ENG101 for students of English as a Second Language (ESL). Emphasis on rhetoric and composition with a focus on expository writing and understanding writing as a process. Establishing effective college-level writing strategies through four or more writing projects comprising at least 3,000 words in total.

Prerequisites: Writing test score or (C/better in ESL097 or WAC101),or (B/better in ALT100) or (C in ALT100 & Corequisites: ENG101LL or ENG107LL or WAC101 or ENG100A+) or (C/better in ESL202 and Corequisites: ENG101LL or ENG107LL or WAC101 or ENG100A+).

ENG107LL First-Year Composition Lab for ESL 1 Credits

Equivalent of ENG101LL for students of English as a Second Language (ESL). Supplemental instruction for composition courses. Focus on developing effective writing processes to address a range of rhetorical situations.

Prerequisites: Appropriate writing placement test score, or (a grade of C or better in ESL202. Corequisites: ENG101, or ENG107).

Course Notes: It is highly encouraged that you attend the FREE MCC Reading/Writing Boot Camp that occurs prior to the beginning of the semester. Participants may be able to place into a higher-level course; participants will be better prepared for success. Emphasis on rhetoric and composition with a focus on persuasive, research-based writing and understanding writing as a process. Developing advanced college-level writing strategies through three or more writing projects comprising at least 4,000 words in total.

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ENG107.
