CRW160 Introduction to Writing Poetry 3 Credits

Prewriting (invention and discovery); writing; analyzing and evaluating (in workshop); and revising to practice manipulating various elements of poetry, critique one's own and the poetry of others, and produce a portfolio of finished, marketable poems. Prerequisites: None. CRW150 recommended but not required.

CRW260 Intermediate Poetry Writing 3 Credits

Emphasis on writing a series of original poems; analysis and evaluation of the functions and effects of established works of poetry; concentration on evaluation and revising students' poetry through intensive workshops.

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CRW160 or permission of Instructor.

Fall Flex Start 2024

ENG102 First-Year Composition 3 Credits

Emphasis on rhetoric and composition with a focus on persuasive, research-based writing and understanding writing as a process. Developing advanced college-level writing strategies through three or more writing projects comprising at least 4,000 words in total.

Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in ENG101.

Course Notes: Due to the possibility of last-minute schedule changes, students are encouraged to attend the first class meeting before purchasing the textbook.
