Introduction to the dental hygiene profession and the process of care. Infection control, patient assessment, preventive treatment and dental hygiene instrumentation are practiced. Students are introduced to self assessment skills and quality improvement.

Prerequisites: Admission to the Dental Hygiene Program or permission of Instructor.

The application of radiation safety, operation and maintenance of X-ray equipment, infection control procedures, receptor placement, radiation exposure, acquisition, mounting, interpretation, and evaluation of digital radiographic images.

A grade of C or better required in all Prerequisites. Prerequisites or Corequisites: (DHE117 and admission to the Dental Hygiene Program) or permission of Program Director.
