CON100 Introduction to Construction 2 Credits

Introduces students to all aspects of the construction industry such as how projects are delivered, reviewing the procurement process and how they are estimated, scheduled, and contracted. Introduces students to the individual roles that constructors fill in the delivery of a construction project. Prerequisites: None.

CON122 Construction: Plumbing 9 Credits

Introduces students to materials, hardware, and systems related to the plumbing profession. Provides instruction in drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems as well as installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, fixtures and appliances.

A grade of C or better required in all Prerequisites. Prerequisites or Corequisites: [(CON103 or CON271) and (CON102 or (CON102AA, CON102AB, and CON102AC))], or permission of Instructor.

CON170 Construction Trades: H.V.A.C.r 9 Credits

Introduction to major components and functions of residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (H.V.A.C.r) systems, including heat flow and basic electrical concepts. Introduction to installation of residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (H.V.A.C.r) systems. Includes startup and verification of proper equipment operation. Includes installations, diagnostics, preventative and predictive maintenance, and customer service. Introduction to troubleshooting the components of residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (H.V.A.C.r) systems to ensure proper equipment operation. Examines federal laws, standards, and procedures for the preparation to complete the certification for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SECTION 608.

A grade of C or better required in all Prerequisites. Prerequisites or Corequisites: [(CON103 or CON271) and (CON102 or (CON102AA, CON102AB, and CON102AC))], or permission of Instructor.

CON102 Foundations of Construction Trades 6 Credits

Introduction to construction trades with an overview of standard practices in the construction profession, including safety, construction drawings, tools, and material handling. Includes workspace maintenance according to professional standards and basic calculation skills in the construction environment, including primary operations. Examines the United States standard and metric units of measurement, orthographic figures, and area and volume calculations for two and three-dimensional objects. Provides students with the information and skills to read and understand construction drawing. Includes basic rigging and material handling procedures. Prerequisites: None.
